thanks to Canllaith the Naiad (who also happens to be one of KDE's newest CVS account owners and our new FAQ maintainer) for the well-timed screenies below of the new kicker crunchiness. still not as cool as seeing it all happen in realtime, but this should give you an idea...

Wow. You're doing a tremendous job here.
Great to see some visual effects that are not just copied from MacOSX or Windows.

Are there any plans to modify the KMenu layout?
While XP-like layouts weren't too much welcomed in kde-look, I think the menu tends to become too tall, in 800x600 that means it broke into two columns in weird ways, or covers the panel, so releasing the mouse buttons triggers a menu action. The only way to control this is limiting the "Most used" items to three or less (depending on the widget style), and/or removing optional submenus.
So I say, if it will split in two columns, that should happen in a smart way.
Classic layout leaves things as they currently are. Two column layout doesn't do anything drastic as XP does, but puts the Apps section (and maybe something else) in the right column.
In that way, both the complete app category section and the most used apps section get plenty of space, with no annoying behaviour.
