i added a new "type" of icon: Dialog. this augments Desktop, Panel, Toolbar, MainToolbar, etc. i was tired of my large desktop icons making every icon that appeared in a dialog to appear ginormous. no more! so adjust your usage from Desktop to Dialog where appropriate. i need to do that in a few places in kdeui, actually =) i'd also like to add a FileManager icon type so that the desktop and file managers can also go their separate ways.
what other icon types should be special cased?

Did anyone ever tell you your posts are hard to read because you pig-headedly refuse to capitalize sentences? It's an insult to your audience when you value your time and idiosyncrasies more than their comprehension.
Cheers!

I don't have any problems reading his posts and I prefer him to invest his time in developing KDE-4 and make it better rather than capitalizing his sentences.
returning to the matter: i think one for menuitems and taskbar would be great specially for higher resolutions. what do you think?
It would be pretty damn usefull (at least down here, per GF request) to be able to have per-icon icon size, at least on the desktop.
The idea would be to resize icons the same way (or about) you resize windows, and this kde magic thingie would just have to remember this too (along with position maybe).
Maybe this could be useful at the konqueror/dolphin directory icon view level too.
Thanks!
Sorry Aaron, I don't get that idea. It's not because of your spelling (@skierpage, see below), I just simply don't get that idea. Can you explain ginormous?
@skierpage: I also would prefer Aaron's posts to have proper capitalization, as I'm not a native English speaker and would like to learn "proper" English, but first, Aaron should invest his time in KDE, and second he already explained several times that he actually is a dyslexic. And apart from capitalization, his blog entries are always very understandable, at least regarding the language. I just don't get the idea this time, but I'm not too much into programming anyway ;-).

"it's an insult to your audience"
you have it backwards. i'm not writing this blog for "my audience". it's a way for people to keep up with what i'm doing should they choose. my "audience" is lucky i write anything at all.
@anonymous
"i think one for menuitems and taskbar"
menuitem size is controlled by the style; but taskbar is a decent idea... i look into the ramifications of that...
@thomas:
"Can you explain ginormous"
sorry, ginormous is a bit of colloquial slang. it means "very, very, very large."
i use 128px icons in the file manager. that size gets used in things like the Run Command dialog and configuration dialogs. which looks a bit .. odd, to say the least ;)
