Linux Format: The KDE Issue

Linux Format has dedicated their next issue to KDE: we're right there center stage on the front cover:

As a special bonus, at midnight tonight (GMT) they'll be posting the entire issue online for everyone to download in PDF format for 24 hours only.

Grab it and see what Linux Format is all about. Who knows, perhaps they'll snag some new subscribers with this limited time give away offer. :)

Update: Apparently I'm supposed to send you here for the download. Thanks for the comment, Tecumseh. :)

As I see on their blog you should point people to the correct links: http://www.tuxradar.com/content/linux-format-free-download-24-hours-only (or http://tinyurl.com/lxf116

Thanks for the info on this.

"One essential feature of KDE 3.5 has been dropped from each
KDE 4 release so far – and that’s the ability to right-click on
an archive and select ‘Extract’."

I am unable to understand this article. How can they point out stuff like this, when Plasma team has been working their butts off developing ultra cool wallpapers, disappearing panels and notifiers?

/sarcasm

@I Love: because we are working on Plasma, not Ark, which provides this. and in 4.2, all of those menus are actually back. again, thanks to Ark. nothing to do with Plasma.

i've deleted your other comment, and thanks to the nature of it comment moderation is back on. i turn it off and less than a day later you're right back being a complete dickwad. congratulations.

if you feel that's an unfair characterization, i suggest you go do some deep introspection and think about how you interact with others, because your behaviour on my blog in the last few weeks has been a compelling demonstration of complete personal failure on your part.

as another suggestion: i attend a number of community events every year. feel free to find me at one of them for a face-to-face conversation. i'm sure it would be fun.

I Love is a tool, please don't waste your time even replying to his comments. A simple Ctrl+A and Delete will serve just as well.

Really looking forwards to KDE 4.2. 4.1.2 pretty much beats any other DE hands-down for customisation and usability. Thankyou for keeping the faith, - there's a beer out there with your name on!

Don't worry Aaron, it's just one idiot against a whole lot of grateful people for all the work all you KDE developers put for us.

So, thanks a lot, have a nice day !!

I was unable to download the linux format pdf in time, but I suspect it talks about 4.2, not 4.1? If so, then there IS an extract submenu in Dolphin - actually it is better than the one in KDE 3.5x! The automatic detection of subfolder(s) works great ;-)

I could not find the March 2009 issue of Linux Format at Borders, it apparently never arrived at the store, so I missed it. It is also sold out online. Since I had purchased the issues there for several months, I thought I should subscribe, so I did that a few days ago, but I don't think I will be able to get the issue I missed. Where I live, the issues seem to arrive around the 10th of each month at Borders, so I just bought the April issue on Friday.
